Primary 6 and Primary 7 children today completed their final workshop of the RISE NI .breathe Programme, a four week curriculum programme aimed at giving the children a taste of mindfulness with a key focus on;
The programme was extremely positive and beneficial to everyone and we would like to thank our facilitator, Catherine from RISE NI for all her work with the children over the duration of the programme.
Congratulations to Esmee on her recent achievements with the Jenna Finnegan Dance Company at the Ultimate Dance Fest in Coalisland, Co Tyrone.
Esmee proceeded to the Finals of the Festival and was placed 6th overall - a wonderful achievement.
Alongside friends in the Jenna Finnegan Dance Company Esmee also participated in a charity dance fundraising event and managed to raise a magnificent £110 for the Multiple sclerosis (MS) Society with the Dance Group raising £700 in total for this fantastic charity.

Today we donned our red clothing and participated in Rock Red Friday in aid of Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
The aim of today was to raise funds and vital awareness of congenital heart disease (CHD), Northern Ireland’s most common birth defect.
The Children’s Heartbeat Trust is a charity which has supported several families in our school community over the years and is something which is very close to us all.
This week marked Children’s Mental Health Week 2024 in school, a mental health awareness week that empowers, equips and gives a voice to all children.
Classes participated and marked this very important week in our school calendar with a variety of activities from yoga to a whole school Mental Health Art Workshop with Sinéad McDermott from the Art & Design Factory
Well done to all the children who achieved their Accelerated Reader Target during the last term.
The volume of reading taking place across the school on a consistent basis is absolutely remarkable.

Huge congratulations to all the children from Primary 5, Primary 6 & Primary 7 who have read over 100,000 words in the Accelerated Reader Programme since September.
Their hard work, dedication and desire to develop and enhance their reading has been very evident all year and this fantastic achievement is something which you should all be very proud of!

As part of our NSPCC Number Day celebrations children from Primary 4 to Primary 7 took part in ‘NSPCC Rocks’ in which they competed against other children from across N. Ireland and the whole of the UK in an online times tables competition that tested their multiplication accuracy and recall speed.
Upon conclusion of the event, we were delighted to discover that St Mary’s Primary School Dunsford finished as the second highest scoring school in all of Northern Ireland!
This was a fantastic achievement and one which the whole school is extremely proud of.
On an individual note, and in quite a remarkable achievement Lee in Primary 7, Madden in Primary 6 and James also in Primary 6 finished as the top three highest scoring children in ‘NSPCC Rocks’ in the whole of Northern Ireland.
This was a truly amazing accolade, congratulations boys!
