  • Santa Visits St Mary's!

    We had a very special visitor in school today as Santa Claus came in to see all the boys and girls before the big day next week!

     

    There was lots of excitement as he made his way through the school giving each child a lovely selection box. Everyone was relieved to hear they are on Santa's nice list for Christmas!

  • St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers

    Today we  donated a magnificent thirteen hampers to the local   St Vincent de Paul society. Local representative Mrs Mary Fitzsimons, grandmother to P7 pupil Ellen collected them and they will go towards helping those in need in our local community over the Christmas period.

     

    Many thanks to all our parents and staff for their kind donations.

  • Road Dafety Banner Competition

    Katrina Hynds and John Trainor from Newry, Mourne & Down District Council are currently working on a road safety program highlighting issues of speeding around primary schools.

     

    The pupils were asked to design posters emphasising the need for drivers to slow down around schools. Five lucky winners were chosen by Katrina & John and these posters will now be made into a large banner that will be displayed outside the school.

  • Christmas Raffle Prize Winners

    There was enormous excitement in school today as the draw for our annual Christmas raffle took place. There were a range of fantastic prizes on display and we would like to thank everyone who donated prizes to the school or bought tickets for the draw.

  • Christmas Plays

    Wed 18 Dec 2019 Digital Leaders

    Last week our whole school performed our Christmas Plays.

     

    P1 to P4 produced a play called 'It's a party'.

     

    P5 to P7 produced a play called 'Rock around Christmas'.

     

    Everyone worked very hard and enjoyed the performances.

  • New Defibrillator for St Mary's

    With the help of Friends of St Mary's PTA, Amanda Doyle of the NI Ambulance Service and our extremely generous and supportive school community we recently raised the necessary funds to  purchase a life saving defibrillator which is available for the whole community.

     

    The defibrillator is situated outside the school. Many thanks also to Brian Lynn of Elite Medical Training Services who provided training on the defibrillator to staff and Primary 7 pupils.

  • Ardglass Christmas Lights Switch On

    Children from the school attended the Ardglass Festival Association Community Christmas Lights Switch On at the Old School Community Garden.

     

    Pupils sang carols, went to Santa's Grotto and took part in balloon modelling to get into the festive spirit.

  • Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Household Recycling Centre Schools’ Competition Winner

    Well done to James in Primary 6 for winning the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council's recent Household Recycling Centre Schools' Competition.

     

    James attended a special prizegiving event at the Council offices in Downpatrick where he was presented with a Kindle E-Reader for his achievements. Well done James.
