We have been learning all about chocolate and Fair Trade this week. We linked the learning to children's rights.

Easter Bonnet Day
Thinking about other children less fortunate, we had our Annual Easter Bonnet Day, where pupils made an Easter Bonnet and donated £1 towards Trocaire.
Thank you to all our parents and children who put in so much effort on the beautiful Easter Bonnets.
Shakespeare Week.
In Shakespeare week we learned a lot about the famous playwright.
We also learned how to make a film using the Green Screen App. We will be adding more of these in the coming weeks. Watch out!
St Patrick's Day.
We have been learning about St Patrick this week. Our celebration of his big day reminds us that:
we have a right to follow a religion - Article 14
and
we have the right to a nationality - Article 15.

The children gave a great performance, sang at the top of their voices and said their lines with confidence and clarity.

World Book Day
We learned a lot when we celebrated World Book Day.
One boy told us, 'if we learn to read, it will help us to be whatever we want to be when we grow up!'

World Maths Day
We celebrated World Maths Day with a day filled with Maths activities which included reading numbers on the computer, counting the number of lollipop sticks, making patterns and finding possibilities.
We talked about Article 28 - the right to go to school and learn.

NSPCC Number Day
We came to school in outfits connected with number today to raise awareness of the work of NSPCC.
We looked at the United Convention on the Rights of the Child Articles and completed activities relating to them.
Article 3 - all adults must do what is best for the children in their care
Article 19 - children should be kept safe from harm
Article 29 children have the right to become the best that they can be.

Snowflake and P1/2 Christmas Party
We have had lots of fun in P1/2 with Snowflake. He got up to lots of mischief and we had fun finding him every morning. He has said goodbye to us all today and we gave him a little hug. Before he left he gave us milk, marshmallows and chocolate powder to have a little hot chocolate with our Christmas Party. Merry Christmas from all in P1/2. Have a safe holiday and we shall see you again in 2018.
