ICT

Welcome to our School ICT Page

This page aims to give parents helpful hints regarding ICT in school.

Our Education Policy is founded in the message,'I have come that they may have life and live it to the full'. Our aim is the development of the whole child - to whom according to his/ her needs- from whom according to his / her ability.

ICT is a rapidly changing and developing resource in the world and school today that helps pupils learn, communicate and participate. By embedding ICT across the curriculum we want children to become full and active citizens of a technological advancing society.

We aim, therefore, to:

1. provide children with access to a range of ICT resources including emerging digital resources :

2. to enhance and extend children's learning across the whole curriculum whilst developing motivaiton and social skills:

3. to use ICT to promote links with parents and the wider community:

4. to make pupils aware of inappropriate use of ICT and how to use ICT responsibly:

P1 and P2 work with our Digital Leader.

Digital Leaders' Training.

Our digital leaders attended training on storyboards and the iMovie App at the Apple Store in Belfast with Mrs Mullan. They now have the skills to train others back at school.

They had a great learning experience with a visit to the dome, lunch and a bun before they caught the express bus back to Downpatrick.

What a great learning experience for our digital leaders!

New Classroom Technology

We have recently invested in the very latest classroom technology in the form of a new Clevertouch 75 inch screen interactive touchscreen which has been installed in the Primary 3 & 4 classroom. We strive to ensure that all pupils in St. Mary's PS have access to the very latest digital technology so that teaching and learning are continually evolving and improving.

Many thanks to Mr Carl Jones from NIVAC for delivering a training session to all staff on how to use our new board effectively. We aim to have similar boards installed throughout the rest of the school in the near future.
