Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Huge congratulation to Rory in Primary 7 who recently travelled all the way to Budapest in Hungary to compete in the Savate, Kickboxing World Youth Championships.
In a stacked field, Rory managed to make it all the way to the final in the 30-35kg weight category in which he competed against an opponent from Azerbaijan.
In a very closely fought final, Rory was awarded the silver medal for his efforts with many in attendance believing he was deserving of the gold medal for his performance in the final.
Everyone in St Mary’s PS is immensely proud of Rory’s fantastic achievement!
Congratulations to our ‘Stars of the Week’. Well done everyone! ⭐️👏🏻
This week marked Catholic Schools Week, the theme this year being ‘Catholic Schools: Walking Together in Faith and Love’.
Pupils celebrated this special week in our Faith calendar by completing lessons and activities around this theme. All the children attended a beautiful Grandparents’ Day Mass as part of our celebrations on Thursday and Catholic Schools Week culminated today in a very special Grandparent's Coffee Morning.
It was fantastic to have so many parents & grandparents in school today and the children loved sharing a cup of tea with them all, giving them a tour of their classrooms and showcasing some of the special activities they have completed this week as part of the ‘Catholic Schools: Walking Together in Faith and Love’ theme.
Today was a wonderful way to mark the conclusion to Catholic Schools Week 2023 and we are very grateful to everyone for supporting the children throughout this special week.
Well done to our two school quiz teams who competed in the annual Downpatrick Credit Union Quiz in De La Salle High School today.
Rory, Marc, Latasha, Iona, Ciara, Niamh G, Niamh D and Ellie represented the school proudly and had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
We would like to extend many congratulations to Miss O’Neill on her recent engagement over the festive period.
The children were extremely excited at the news and two of our school councillors, Ciara and Aisling were delighted to present a small gift to her today during our weekly assembly.
Huge congratulations to the pupils in Primary 6 and Primary 7 who have each read over 100,000 words in Accelerated Reader since September.
A fantastic achievement which you should be very proud of.
