• Sacrament of Confirmation

  Today our wonderful Primary 7 pupils celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Mary's Church, Dunsford. The children prepared so well for today and put in an enormous amount of work which was reflected in their knowledge of the Sacrament, their beautiful singing and their responses throughout the celebration.

   

  Many thanks to Fr Murray and Fr McCloskey for a wonderful service and to all the families and sponsors who supported the children on their special day. Thanks also to the school choir for the beautiful singing and supporting your friends in Primary 7. We hope everyone has a wonderful day and we are very proud of you all.

  

• First Confession

  Congratulations to the children of Primary 3 who made their First Confession today.We are all very proud of you! Well done boys and girls !

  Special thanks to Fr Mc Closkey. Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and guardians for supporting the children in their preparation for this special day. Thanks to our school choir for their beautiful singing. 

   

  

• Primary 7 Confirmation Retreat

  Today our Primary 7 pupils took part in a retreat in Dunsford Old School to help prepare them for their forthcoming Sacrament of Confirmation. 

   

  During the retreat led by the South Down Vicariate Retreat team, the pupils completed a number of workshops to help deepen their understanding of the Sacrament which they will receive next week. It was an excellent day which proved to be the ideal preparation ahead of next Thursday. 

  

• Ash Wednesday

  Father McCloskey distributed ashes to all the pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7 on Wednesday to mark the start of Lent. A lovely service was held in school at which Father emphasised the importance of the Lenten period.

   

  The children discussed with Father what they would be sacrificing and doing during Lent and and we are very thankfully to Father for coming into school and help us prepare for Lent.

  

• Wedding Assembly

  A special Assembly was held for Miss McGreevy on Wednesday ahead of her wedding day this Saturday. The children surprised Miss McGreevy with a whole school assembly at which she was presented with some lovely gifts from the Primary 7 pupils and staff.

   

  The whole school would like to wish her all the very best on her wedding day and we will all have to get used to calling her Mrs McGrath in the future!

  

• Heartstart and Defibrillator Training

  With the help of Friends of St Mary’s PTA and other contributions, the school has recently purchased a potentially life-saving defibrillator for the school and local community. Today staff and P7 pupils received training in how to use the defibrillator along with Heartstart training from Brian who owns Elite Medical Training Services.

   

  The pupils really enjoyed the experience and were very competent and confident in both areas. Many thanks to Brian for the training.
