  • First Holy Communion

    Sat 19 Sep 2020 R Fitzpatrick

Congratulations to all the boys and girls in Primary 5 who made their First Holy Communion this morning in the beautiful sunshine in Dunsford. It was a lovely ceremony and the children were amazing.

They have worked so hard over the past number of weeks and this was apparent in their responses throughout the service, in their readings and in their knowledge of the Sacrament.

Many thanks to everyone who made this day possible, including class teachers Mrs Howland & Miss O'Neill,  Fr McCloskey for a very special service,  Mrs Mullan and Mrs McGrath for our music, Mrs C Mullan for displaying the children's work so beautifully, Mrs Clarke for the wonderful flowers and Sean McAlea for helping prepare the chapel for the service.

I would also like to thank our parents who have been so supportive and patient over the last number of months, the catechists in the Come Follow Me Team who have worked with the children in their preparations and all the other staff in school who helped out in many different ways to prepare the children for today.

We hope you all enjoyed this morning and have a fantastic day celebrating with your family and friends.

Well done boys and girls the whole school is so proud you.

  • 20mph Speed Limit Scheme

    Wed 16 Sep 2020

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we are one of the 100 schools across the North that have been included in the Department for Infrastructure Road Safety Strategy 2020.

This will see the introduction of new roundel road signs erected with flashing amber lights, set to come on at the times the reduced speed limit applies.

The part-time 20mph speed limits around St Mary's will increase driver awareness and achieve reductions in vehicle speeds outside and near the school thus ensuring that parents, children and staff will be safer as they go to and from school on a daily basis.

Ensuring some form of traffic calming measures are introduced outside the school has been one of the main targets for the whole school community over the last number of years, with a number of people working relentlessly in the background to ensure the safety of the children in St Mary's is taken care of. We are delighted with this most recent announcement and will provide further details in due course.

Many thanks for your continued support

  • Roald Dahl Day 2020

    Tue 15 Sep 2020

The children celebrated Roald Dahl Day last week by dressing up as their favourite Roald Dahl character.

All the classes in school immersed themselves in the writer's work through stories, poetry, films and interactive live lessons throughout the day.

    Amazing costumes everyone, well done!
