  • Mrs Mullan's Retirement Events

    Wed 30 Jun 2021

We had a number of retirement events for Mrs Mullan for the past week.

Mrs Mullan has been an ever present in St Mary's for the past 25 years educating the children of the Parish of Dunsford & Ardglass and her influence and expertise will be missed by all.

She has led major developments and innovations in ICT and SEN provision as well as delivering high quality teaching and learning to many children in her role.

We are especially indebted to her for the great contribution she has made to our excellent school choir which continues to flourish.

She will be deeply missed by our whole school community and whilst deeply sorry to see her leave, we wish her every success and happiness in the years ahead and would like to thank her for the lasting contribution she has made to our school.

    Happy retirement Mrs Mullan!

  • Pupil of the Year

    Mon 28 Jun 2021

Today we celebrated our Pupil of the Year awards.

Staff discussed which Primary 1-Primary 4 pupil and which Primary 5-Primary 7 pupil had worked above and beyond expectations in our school this year. We looked at everything each child in St. Mary’s gave to our school throughout the year.

In a very difficult decision our Foundation/ Key Stage 1 award was presented to Grace and our Key Stage 2 award was presented to Zara. Both girls worked extremely hard in their school work, applying themselves to each and every task both academic and non-academic which were presented to them as well as displaying great manners and behaviour at all times and being an excellent friend to all their peers.

Congratulations to both worthy recipients of these awards.

    Mon 28 Jun 2021

There was great excitement in school today when we were officially awarded our second Eco-Schools Green Flag award!

The internationally recognised Green Flag is the highest award given to Eco-Schools and symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.

We have worked up to obtaining our second Green Flag by achieving Bronze and Silver awards in previous years and our first Green Flag was awarded in June 2019.

Well done to all the boys and girls. A special thanks to our Eco-Committee this year: Esmêe (P1), Harry (P2), Aoibh (P3), Ella (P4), Finlay (P4), Ciara (P5), Archie (P6), AJ (P6), Ellie-Rose (P7) and Clodagh (P7).

Primary 7 have enjoyed their small leavers assembly in school. We are proud of each and everyone of our pupils for all the hard work and dedication they have put into their time here in St Mary's Dunsford. We have shared the Leavers iMovie and assembly on the class page for all those family and friends who would like to see them. Although socially distanced we know everyone will enjoy looking back and celebrating with our pupils.
