Friends of St Mary's PTA organised an end of year Fun Day for the children in school today and what a day it was!

With bouncy castles, football targets and treats for all it was the perfect way to mark the end of another fantastic school year.

  • Eco-Council Plant & Flower Sale

    Thu 29 Jun 2023

Our Eco-Council Councillors have recently been selling a variety of plants and flowers outside the school at collection times. These were grown and very generously donated to the school by garden enthusiast Patrick McMullan, father of Ollie in P5 and Aairyn in Primary 1.

The children managed to raise an absolutely magnificent total of £331 from the sale of Cayenne Pepper Plants, Bush Cucumber Plants and Aztek Micro Tomato Plants amongst others.

This was a truly fantastic amount with all monies raised going towards school funds.

Thank you to Patrick for the very kind and generous donation.

  • πŸŽ‰ P7 Leavers Assembly πŸŽ‰

    Thu 22 Jun 2023

What a wonderful day we had today at our Leavers Assembly, during which the children sang, prayed and shared their favourite memories of their time in St Mary's with those present.

It was a lovely morning with great stories and pictures shared through the iMovie and although it was a sad day for many with more than a few tears shed it is important to remember these days as celebrations as well. Celebrations of spending seven wonderful years here in Dunsford and the forging of friendships that will last forever.

It was an emotional yet exciting day for our pupils who are nearing the end of their time here in St Mary’s and beginning to look ahead to the future at their new schools. We also are bidding farewell for the last time to some of our families who have supported the St Mary’s community over a long period of time as their youngest children make the step into the next chapter of their lives.

The Primary 7 children have been truly outstanding and an absolute credit to our school, our parish and to their families. Your presence will be sorely missed around the school but as I said, remember that the door is always open here in St Mary's, we hope to see you soon and we wish you all the very best for the future.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories.

  • πŸ“šReading Partnership πŸ“–

    Wed 21 Jun 2023

The Reading Partnership Programme has been running in St Mary’s for a number of years now and the aim of the programme is to improve children’s reading confidence when reading and getting children to become enthusiastic readers.  Reading Partnership is based around the understanding that building a child’s confidence is the key to improving their reading.

This year we were extremely fortunate to be able to recruit and help train four Reading Partnership Volunteers who came into St Mary’s three times a week on a voluntary basis to support children in the school to develop their reading ability.

The Programme has been a great success and the development of the children who worked with the Reading Partners has been truly amazing.

We are extremely grateful and thankful to our Reading Partners for the time and commitment they have given to the school over the year and today we presented a small gift to each of our four Reading Partners as a sign of appreciation for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Great to have you back Ethan.
