Aisling in Primary 7 who plays with the Comhaltas group in Castlewellan very kindly brought her accordion into school today and played a number of songs for us all including the ‘Kerry Polka’.

Preaching House Pottery will be holding a Chinese New Year celebration at Ardglass Marina this Thursday 8th February from 6.30pm where the children’s artwork will be on display.
All the children today took part in a very important event in our yearly Numeracy calendar - NSPCC Number Day.
There were a range of fun numeracy activities taking place throughout the school with a number of classes taking part in the 'NSPCC ROCKS' tournament on TT Rockstars.
A great day was had by all!
On Friday we celebrated 100 days of school!
We are all now 100 days smarter and everyone throughout the school was busy completing different tasks based around the number 100!
Primary 6 and Primary 7 children today participated in week 2 of the RISE NI .breathe Programme, a four week curriculum programme aimed at giving the children a taste of mindfulness with a key focus on;
The programme has augmented our PSHE curriculum in St Mary’s and the children are very much looking forward to the remaining two weeks of the programme with Catherine from RISE NI.

Today some of our Primary 5 to Primary 7 boys travelled to the Ballymote Centre in Downpatrick to participate in an Indoor Soccer Tournament alongside other schools from the local area.
There was great skill, teamwork and enthusiasm on display throughout from the team with the boys playing fantastically well in all their games.
A very enjoyable morning was had by all and this was followed with a few treats for the team when they returned to school.
Many thanks to St Colmcille’s PS Downpatrick for organising and hosting the tournament and for providing refreshments for the children.
