Hats on for Hydrocephalus

This week was Hydrocephalus Awareness Week. Hydrocephalus describes a condition in which there is a build-up of excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the chambers of the brain and it compresses the surrounding tissue thus raising the pressure inside the skull.

This is a condition close to us all here in St Mary’s with pupils both past and present having a diagnosis of hydrocephalus. To mark this important week, we had a non-uniform day today in school with everyone wearing their favourite hat to mark ‘Hats on for Hydrocephalus’.

All money raised from today will be going directly to the Shine Charity who are seeking to increase awareness of the condition and raise vital funds to provide specialist advice and support for those living with hydrocephalus.
