🎸 Island of Ireland Rocks - Times Tables Rock Stars 🎸
As part of our Maths Week Ireland celebrations last week, children from Primary 4 to Primary 7 took part in the Island of Ireland Rocks Times Tables Rock Stars competition — and we are so proud of all their hard work and enthusiasm!
In the competition, the children competed against other pupils throughout Ireland in attempting to answer as many multiplication and division questions correctly as they could within a set playing period.
The competition was fierce with more than 400 schools and 1,200 classes participating around the country.
We are incredibly excited to announce that St Mary's placed an incredible 5th place in all of Ireland and 1st place in the North - in a competition open to both Primary and Secondary Schools.
We are also delighted to announce that our Primary 7 class were placed as the top class in the whole of Ireland at Primary school level.
Individually, we had the two top scoring pupils in the North in Rossa Curran and Eoin Surginor with Dara Gilchrist also placing in the top 10 pupils in the North.
Rossa Curran placed a fantastic 8th overall in all of Ireland, Eoin Surginor finished 11th and Dara Gilchrist placed 34th - a truly incredible achievement for Primary 7 pupils considering they were up against top competition from secondary schools across the island.
I am sure you can appreciate that these stats are absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of everyone!
Well done to all our brilliant boys and girls who took part — you truly rocked your times tables!
