St Marys Primary School, Chapeltown, Downpatrick

School Council

At St. Mary's, we are proud to have pupil representatives who take part in School Council meetings.

Through the School Council, all pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas, and take part in discussions that involve all of their classmates in reaching a democratic solution. Pupils in each class can suggest ideas to their Council Representatives to ensure pupils know that this is their school and their thoughts and ideas matter.

School council officials nominate themselves and then are voted in by their class peers.

Each class from Primary 1 to Primary 6 holds 1 seat on the School Council, with our Primary 7 pupils holding 2 seats.

Through this process, the School Council will strive throughout the year to ensure that the pupils' voices are heard.

We look forward to their help and support this year.
